A beautiful civil wedding in the Fornalutx woods…

Harrison’s best man was really looking forward to this wedding, he’d always wanted to go to New Zealand! But the world is small and things don’t always work out the way people expect and that’s why Fiona and Harrison, from New Zealand and Australia and based in Barcelona, decided to hold their wedding in Monnaber, a beautiful country house which enchanted them as soon as they saw it. Guests flew in from all over the world and were captivated by the wonderful Tramontana mountain range. Not even the rain could dampen the mood and stop people from having a great time, just goes to show that a large part of the time it comes down to attitude! Most of the guests got ready at the house, so everything was full of hustle and bustle, ironing boards , hair brushes, suits and make up… Monaber has lots of enchanting places to put on the finishing touches before the grand moment. The setting is spectacular, with mountain views and wonderful greenery. All the details put together for the wedding along with the marvelous setting made it absolutely unique. Just before the ceremony was about to start it looked like it was going to rain, the wedding planner went to the bride and groom and asked what they wanted to do, since it was an open-air ceremony. Fiona and Harrison decided to go ahead with their initial plan in spite of the dark skies. As I said before, during a wedding it’s all down to attitude! Everyone enjoyed the ceremony in a fantastic wood setting without worrying about the rain. A long table with bucolic decoration, paper lanterns, candles and flowers made the wedding deliciously intimate… Each detail in a wedding is important, each one is lovingly chosen. An engagement ring is a beautiful symbol which always looks great, I love this one. Fiona wanted to get ready surrounded by her mother, her sister and her friends without having to worry about the camera. Just enjoying the moment, an authentic memory and a magical moment. No wedding’s complete without our loved ones, that’s why I found out that Fiona and Harrison had brought their dog to the wedding. Leon greeted the bride on her way to the ceremony and was a part of the wedding throughout. It was great! A fairytale setting for a dreamy and funny ceremony in the middle of a wood, magic… We spent a few minutes to take some relaxed and laid back couples photos, making the most of the surroundings to give them a special keepsake of the area but we quickly got back to the people and the drinks so that Fiona and Harrison didn’t miss anything and spent as much time as possible with their guests. If there’s one thing I specially like about anglosaxon weddings it’s the speeches, the emotions, the laughter, the stories and the memories…   Photography: Leticia Acosta and Alec Seeger
